An Update from Room 18!
18 May 2009
Dear Parents/Caregivers
Thank you to those who recently attended the 3 way conferences. I hope you and your child found them helpful, we certainly did this end. J Hopefully some of you are also keeping up to date with our Room 18 blog, and the fabulous work that your children are doing, on www.roomeighteenbroadgreen.blogspot.com
It is now Week 4 of Term 2 and things are starting to get quite busy. During the next five weeks class members will be learning about Information Report Writing, Speech and Presentations and carrying out experiments for their Science Fair projects. Modules, Languages and Winter Sports will also be starting soon.
Science Fair
By now all students have decided on a topic to investigate for their science fair projects, and are currently checking their ideas with me. Tuesday mornings are science mornings in Room 18 as we have the Science lab. Students can bring gear on this day to do their experiments in the lab, but they can also bring their equipment any other day apart from on a Friday. Most days they will have the opportunity to do their experiments in the classroom.
If experiments are being done at home, please make sure you help your child to observe and record their experiments in their log book (or even a piece of paper that can be glued into their log book, if another team member has it). Students, remember to try and photograph everything you are doing.
Reminders
PE is on Tuesday and Thursdays, please help to send PE gear with your child on these days.
Please have a look at your child’s diary regularly and sign it at least once a week, ready for me to sign on a Friday.
Please test your child once a night on their spelling words, ready to return on a Friday.
The Room 18 camp is November 2nd, and the cost is $150.00. This does not have to be paid until term 4 but contact the Finance office on 5477131 if you would like to set up an automatic payment.
Achievement folders with written reports will be sent home at the start of term 3.
If you have any quesries about anything above please feel free to contact me. My email is roselyn@broadgreen.school.nz.
Warm Regards,
Roselyn Rodman
